Emily A. Lenzner is Senior Advisor at Trident DMG. A veteran of corporate and crisis communications with more than 25 years of experience both in-house and in agencies, Emily advises individuals, organizations, and campaigns on strategic and crisis communications, public affairs, and business reputation initiatives. She also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of IGI, the investigations and risk advisory firm.
Until spring, 2024, Emily served as Executive Vice President, Global Communications and Public Affairs for the Motion Picture Association (MPA), where she oversaw all communications for the century-old organization that advocates federally and state-wide in the United States and in countries around the world for the Hollywood Studios and other companies in the motion picture, home video, and television industries.
Before joining the MPA in 2019, Emily served as Senior Vice President-Communications for Atlantic Media, overseeing all corporate communications and working closely with its business units, publications, including The Atlantic, Quartz, National Journal, and Government Executive Media Group (2013 – 2019). She was point-person for communications in the acquisition of The Atlantic by Emerson Collective and Quartz by Uzabase.
Since 2014, Emily has also been serving as spokesperson and media advisor to families of American hostages currently and previously held in countries around the world (detailed in the 2015 New Yorker article “Five Hostages”), and she sits on the Advisory Councils of HostageUS, the Foley Foundation, and Global Reach.
In addition, Emily is an avid supporter of the Arts. As an executive member of the board of trustees of the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, DC, she serves as secretary and leads a committee on audience engagement and partnerships.
Emily’s career in media and communications began in the White House during the first Clinton Administration, working with George Stephanopoulos. Emily was later with George in 2003 when she joined ABC News to run communications for his Sunday public affairs show, This Week, as well as Nightline, and the larger Washington bureau. She went on to serve as Managing Director at public affairs and political consulting firm SKDKnickerbocker from 2010-2013, where she managed and executed a variety of national media campaigns for various corporations, non-profit organizations, and advocacy initiatives. Early in her career, Emily was the number two communications executive and head of media relations for National Public Radio.
Emily was named in-house PR Professional of the Year by PR Week in 2016 and is a 2016 PR WEEK Top Woman in PR. A native Washingtonian, she graduated from Vassar College with a BA in English.
