Helen McCarthy is a Director at Trident DMG where she executes comprehensive communications campaigns, including messaging development, earned media, executive visibility and digital strategy. She is a leader at the firm, running account teams and managing relationships for healthcare, technology and retail clients.
In her career, Helen has worked across sectors on a range of issues and has particular experience in environmental conservation and corporate sustainability. In 2023, Helen was recognized as an Emerging Leader Finalist by Washington Women in Public Relations, which honors rising stars in the Washington, D.C. metro area who have excelled in communications.
Before her time with Trident DMG, Helen worked at Weber Shandwick on their Public Affairs team where she focused on issues-based communications. Additionally, Helen was a legislative intern for U.S. Representative Scott Peters, where she researched and synthesized legislation.
Outside of work, Helen led a fundraising team for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) Purple Stride 5K in Washington, DC. Originally from San Diego, California, Helen enjoys many outdoor activities, particularly sailing, hiking and pilates. She also spent 6 years as an U.S. Sailing Certified instructor at San Diego Yacht Club.
Helen graduated from Duke University in 2018 with a B.A. in Public Policy and Earth & Ocean Sciences. She is highly involved in the Duke University Alumni Association where she donates her time as an Alumni Admissions Interviewer interviewing prospective students. Helen is also an active member of Washington Women in Public Relations and PRSA’s National Capital Chapter.
