Director

Trident seeks a Director with a keen desire to develop professionally and work hard to serve clients across strategic and risk advisory matters. Solid experience providing clients with strategic counsel, including through media relations, and leading teams are a must.

Mission:

This team member will assist in managing successful strategy development and execution for clients in strategic, policy, and litigation/investigations/crisis communications matters.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and execute efforts for multiple clients, contributing to strategy-setting and tactic selection, managing day-to-day client relationships and the client team, and ensuring that the team executes on the plan;
  • Work closely with clients to develop effective messaging for targeted audiences;
  • Manage/draft talking points, Q&As, fact sheets, and other documents to support messaging and work execution;
  • Work closely with reporters, pitching stories, responding to incoming media inquiries, and developing longer-term media relationships;
  • Manage/work to build third-party validators for client communications and policy efforts;
  • Draft written materials, including bylined op-eds, blogs, and other thought leadership for clients;
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor more junior staff and help ensure they develop professionally, and oversee their performance;
  • Assist on new business initiatives;

Qualifications include:

  • 4-6 years of broad client experience, preferably at an agency.
  • Experience in strategic and risk advisory strategy and execution, including strong writing, oral, and media relations skills and the ability to help develop others in both areas.
  • A self-starter who is energized by hard work and a drive to succeed for clients.
  • Ability to thrive in a start-up environment and offer solutions to overcome challenges.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Experience managing and coaching teams for success and providing constructive feedback.
  • A passion to create and implement plans that drive clients’ reputations and brands.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously.
  • Substantial experience working with reporters.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.

Associate Director

Trident is looking to hire an Associate Director with a keen desire to develop professionally and work hard in serving clients on a range of matters critically important to them. This individual will assist a range of accounts for both strategic and risk advisory clients, and solid experience in media relations and providing clients with strategic counsel is a must.

Mission:

This team member will assist in managing successful strategy development and execution for clients in strategic, policy, and litigation/investigations/crisis communications matters.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Develop/draft messaging, Q&As, and other materials important to planning and executing on client strategies and tactics and to guide stakeholder communications.
  • Working with teams, oversee development of pitches and angles in addition to producing press releases, briefings, backgrounders, etc.
  • Work closely with reporters and bookers, pitching stories, responding to incoming media inquiries, and developing longer-term media relationships to generate high-quality press coverage.
  • Advise clients on media relations strategies and tactics.  Participate in media training for clients.
  • Proactively, conscientiously report to clients on progress and results – both incremental and big-picture – and manage deadlines while communicating regularly with account leads to keep timelines on track.
  • Mentor junior staff.
  • Monitor current events and news coverage in fields related to clients, both to build knowledge of client businesses and industries and opportunistically obtain coverage for clients.
  • Help prepare for and rapidly respond to emerging client crises.
  • Be available beyond standard hours for potential client crises and other time-sensitive client deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience either working at a strategic communications firm, or in a communications capacity on Capitol Hill.
  • Experience participating in aspects of both strategic and crisis communications strategy and execution, including writing and media relations.
  • Ability to manage work on multiple accounts simultaneously while delivering results in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Experience coaching junior team members for success and providing constructive feedback.
  • Ability to thrive in a start-up environment and offer solutions to overcome challenges.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • A self-starter who is energized by hard work and a drive to succeed for clients.

This is Trident’s entry-level, full-time position, and the team member will work under the supervision of more senior team members to assist on a diverse range of accounts for both strategic and risk advisory clients.

Mission:

This team member will assist in executing on the day-to-day activities of client accounts and projects spanning strategic, policy, litigation, investigations, and crisis communications as well as public affairs matters.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Media monitoring and analysis
  • Research
  • Build and maintain media lists and databases
  • Project management
  • Media relations
  • Draft messaging material, including pitches, press releases, bylines, social content, etc.
  • Help execute on the day-to-day activities of client matters and projects
  • Be available beyond standard hours for potential client crises and other time-sensitive client deadlines,
  • Be the glue on Trident client teams. Help keep the trains running on time and support and fill in for team members with other projects as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 1 year or less of experience in a communications position. Prior experience in communications, including full-time position or internship(s) at a communications or public affairs agency, on political campaigns, or on Capitol Hill
  • Ability to manage work on multiple clients simultaneously while delivering results in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Ability to thrive in a start-up environment and offer solutions to overcome challenges
  • Strong writing and organizational skills with a high attention to detail
  • A self-starter who is energized by hard work and a drive to succeed for clients
